Students studied Magritte’s subject matter, concept, and painting style and used elements they liked to recreated them in ceramics and wrap them around two lamp posts.

Class work: Students embraced the mystery of Magritte’s painting as well as the mostly-pastel color palette. Their introduction was a field trip to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art to see the Rene Magritte’s exhibition, The Fifth Season. Students were encouraged to find elements that they liked with his work and to make a portion of a totem pole embracing Magritte’s juxtaposition in subject matter.
